With a focus on clean, renewable energy, we understand that how energy is generated matters. We’re committed to generating power in an environmentally-responsible way at our 16 hydroelectric stations in Ontario, Quebec and New York State.
Our hydroelectric generators have minimal impact on the environment because they produce zero waste, zero carbon emissions, and zero greenhouse gases.
Run-of-the-river facilities use the natural flow of the river and drop in elevation to generate electricity; they do not dam the flow of the river, or require flooding to create a reservoir.
We own and operate 16 run-of-the-river hydroelectric facilities, including six at Chaudière Falls on the Ottawa River.
Our hydroelectric generating stations are run-of-the-river facilities that rely on the river’s natural flow and drop in elevation to produce power.
These facilities harness the flow of the river without impeding it as there are no holding dams or reservoirs; this makes them extremely efficient, as they produce zero waste or carbon emissions.
