THE POWER OF WATER

By harnessing the strength of hydropower, we generate clean electricity and connect communities to a sustainable future, one that honours nature and promotes progress. Each of our hydroelectric sites is part of a larger journey, representing innovation, respect for the environment and a commitment to lasting change. Home to one of the oldest operating generating stations, Portage Power has a long history of hydroelectric generation and is proud of this heritage.

MINIMAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Our hydroelectric generating stations are designed for minimal environmental impact. They produce zero waste, zero carbon emissions and zero greenhouse gases, ensuring clean, sustainable energy for our communities.

OUR HYDROELECTRIC PRESENCE

We own and operate run-of-the-river hydroelectric facilities in various locations across New York state, Quebec, and Ontario including six at Chaudière Falls in the National Capital Region along the Ottawa River.

NATURAL
FLOW

Our facilities use the natural flow of the water and drop in elevation to generate electricity. They do not dam the flow of the river or require flooding to create a reservoir.

POWERING COMMUNITIES

Together, our stations generate 118.5 megawatts of renewable power—enough to supply 98,000 homes each year, reducing emissions and supporting the communities we serve.
