En seulement 30 ans, elle a chut\u00e9 de pr\u00e8s de 99 % en Ontario. Le nombre d\u2019anguilles dans la province a tellement diminu\u00e9 que l\u2019esp\u00e8ce \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme \u00e9tant en voie de disparition au moment de l\u2019entr\u00e9e en vigueur de la Loi sur les esp\u00e8ces en voie de disparition en 2008.<\/span>\n\t<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>[vc_empty_space height=\u00a0\u00bb40px\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"qodef-post-content\">\n<div class=\"qodef-post-text\">\n<div class=\"qodef-post-text-inner\">\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid qodef-section qodef-content-aligment-left\">\n<div class=\"clearfix qodef-full-section-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>L\u2019anguille d\u2019Am\u00e9rique constitue une esp\u00e8ce essentielle pour la sant\u00e9 de son \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me aquatique \u00e0 la fois comme pr\u00e9dateur et comme source de nourriture. En tant que superpr\u00e9dateur, elle aide \u00e0 ma\u00eetriser la population d\u2019autres esp\u00e8ces de poissons, y compris des esp\u00e8ces envahissantes comme le gobie. Sacr\u00e9e pour les Algonquins, l\u2019anguille d\u2019Am\u00e9rique fait partie int\u00e9grante de leur culture depuis des milliers d\u2019ann\u00e9es. \u00ab Kichisippi Pimisi \u00bb est une source de nourriture, de m\u00e9dicaments et d\u2019inspiration spirituelle. Dans leur culture, l\u2019anguille transporte les pri\u00e8res dans les eaux, car elle parcourt de longues distances \u00e0 la fois dans l\u2019eau sal\u00e9e et dans l\u2019eau douce. Cette esp\u00e8ce \u00e9tait une tr\u00e8s importante source de nourriture pour les Algonquins au cours de leurs voyages et elle les prot\u00e9geait de la famine pendant les hivers rudes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La tr\u00e8s forte r\u00e9duction de la population d\u2019anguille d\u2019Am\u00e9rique est attribuable \u00e0 plusieurs facteurs, notamment les pratiques de p\u00eache ainsi que la contamination et la destruction de l\u2019habitat. Les centrales hydro\u00e9lectriques, les turbines et les barrages qui emp\u00eachent leur migration sont principalement point\u00e9s du doigt depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"qodef-post-content\">\n<div class=\"qodef-post-text\">\n<div class=\"qodef-post-text-inner\">\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid qodef-section qodef-content-aligment-left\">\n<div class=\"clearfix qodef-full-section-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>L\u2019anguille d\u2019Am\u00e9rique est un poisson catadrome. Elle na\u00eet et termine sa vie dans l\u2019eau sal\u00e9e de la mer des Sargasses, mais elle grandit dans les eaux douces des lacs et des cours d\u2019eau, y passant la majeure partie de sa vie avant de retourner dans l\u2019oc\u00e9an pour frayer. Apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9closion des \u0153ufs, les larves commencent leur migration en direction du nord vers l\u2019eau douce. Lorsqu\u2019elles atteignent le fleuve Saint-Laurent, les larves se transforment en poissons transparents en forme d\u2019aiguille appel\u00e9s \u00ab civelles \u00bb ou \u00ab pibales \u00bb. En continuant leur montaison, les civelles se heurtent souvent \u00e0 des obstacles artificiels, par exemple des barrages hydro\u00e9lectriques, qui les emp\u00eachent d\u2019atteindre les habitats naturels dont elles ont besoin pour poursuivre leur croissance. Les anguilles qui survivent \u00e0 la montaison restent en amont pendant une vingtaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es. Une fois arriv\u00e9es \u00e0 maturit\u00e9, elles entreprennent le parcours inverse pour retourner \u00e0 la mer des Sargasses afin de frayer. Son but est de lutter contre la mortalit\u00e9 attribuable aux <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.portagepower.com\/hydroelectricite\/\">installations hydro\u00e9lectriques<\/a>. En amont de la nouvelle centrale construite sur le site, nous avons am\u00e9nag\u00e9 une passe \u00e0 anguilles permettant aux poissons de contourner l\u2019installation en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9. L\u2019anguille d\u2019Am\u00e9rique peut absorber l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne non seulement par ses branchies, mais aussi par sa peau, ce qui lui permet de se d\u00e9placer bri\u00e8vement sur l\u2019herbe humide ou la boue. Une passe \u00e0 anguilles consiste en un syst\u00e8me de d\u00e9rivation, compos\u00e9 d\u2019une s\u00e9rie de chutes en zigzag, gr\u00e2ce auquel les poissons en migration peuvent contourner la centrale de fa\u00e7on s\u00e9curitaire. Les anguilles peuvent ainsi continuer leur montaison vers leur habitat habituel. Lorsque les anguilles arriv\u00e9es \u00e0 maturit\u00e9 entreprendront le trajet du retour vers la mer des Sargasses, elles devront de nouveau traverser les chutes de la Chaudi\u00e8re. Pendant la p\u00e9riode de migration, Portage \u00c9nergie installe une grille fine pour \u00e9viter que les poissons entrent dans la centrale. \u00c0 ce moment de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, le d\u00e9bit d\u2019eau est assez lent pour que les grilles ne blessent pas les anguilles ni les autres poissons, tout en leur permettant de se rendre aux canaux de d\u00e9rivation. Nous avons install\u00e9 deux canaux de d\u00e9rivation qui facilitent la migration des anguilles vers l\u2019aval. Ces canaux, qui commencent au haut et au bas du canal d\u2019amen\u00e9e, permettent aux poissons de contourner la centrale pour poursuivre leur parcours.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Un syst\u00e8me sp\u00e9cial int\u00e9gr\u00e9 aux canaux de d\u00e9rivation comporte des cam\u00e9ras reli\u00e9es \u00e0 un logiciel sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9. Il permet de noter le nombre de poissons qui traversent chaque canal de d\u00e9rivation et d\u2019en pr\u00e9ciser l\u2019esp\u00e8ce. Nous communiquons ces donn\u00e9es \u00e0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca\/index-fra.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">P\u00eaches et Oc\u00e9ans Canada<\/a>, qui les utilise dans des \u00e9tudes scientifiques.
