Apr\u00e8s avoir fait l\u2019objet d\u2019importants travaux de r\u00e9fection, ces centrales ont repris du service et produisent aujourd\u2019hui 39 m\u00e9gawatts (MW) d\u2019\u00e9nergie propre et renouvelable pour l\u2019Ontario.<br \/><br \/>En 2018, la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de portefeuille Hydro Ottawa inc. (par l\u2019entremise de sa filiale Portage \u00c9nergie) a interrompu la production d\u2019hydro\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 de la centrale Hull 2 et de la centrale de Gatineau (centrale no 1) afin de moderniser les installations et r\u00e9aliser des travaux sur des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de structure con\u00e7us pour assurer une protection contre de futures inondations caus\u00e9es par la rivi\u00e8re des Outaouais.<br \/><br \/>Construites au d\u00e9but du 20e si\u00e8cle, ces centrales devaient \u00eatre r\u00e9nov\u00e9es afin de prolonger leur dur\u00e9e de vie et respecter leurs obligations d\u2019acheminer de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 dans le r\u00e9seau ontarien, et ce, en vertu de nouvelles ententes d\u2019achat conclues avec la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 ind\u00e9pendante d\u2019exploitation du r\u00e9seau d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 (SIERE). Parmi les travaux de r\u00e9fection, notons l\u2019installation de nouvelles turbines, le remontage des alternateurs, d\u2019importants travaux de g\u00e9nie civil en amont et en aval, l\u2019automatisation de l\u2019\u00e9quipement et d\u2019autres mises \u00e0 niveau \u00e9lectriques et m\u00e9caniques.<br \/><br \/>Pour relier les deux centrales au r\u00e9seau de l\u2019Ontario, une nouvelle interconnexion a \u00e9t\u00e9 install\u00e9e au-dessus du barrage-vo\u00fbte et de l\u2019\u00eele Chaudi\u00e8re; cette ligne se rend jusqu\u2019au centre-ville d\u2019Ottawa.<br \/><br \/>La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de portefeuille Hydro Ottawa inc. poss\u00e8de et exploite trois principales filiales : Hydro Ottawa limit\u00e9e, qui distribue de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 dans l\u2019ensemble de la capitale nationale; Portage \u00c9nergie, qui produit chaque ann\u00e9e 128 m\u00e9gawatts d\u2019\u00e9nergie propre et renouvelable; et Envari Holding Inc., qui offre des solutions \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques durables aux entreprises, aux municipalit\u00e9s et aux compagnies de distribution d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Portage \u00c9nergie est le plus important producteur d\u2019\u00e9nergie verte appartenant \u00e0 une municipalit\u00e9 en Ontario.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>La SIERE est une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019\u00c9tat qui est responsable d\u2019exploiter le march\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et de g\u00e9rer le syst\u00e8me des march\u00e9s de gros de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 en Ontario.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>En tout, Hydro Ottawa a une capacit\u00e9 de production de 128 m\u00e9gawatts (MW), soit suffisamment pour alimenter 107 000 habitations par ann\u00e9e. Ses installations comptent 16 centrales hydro\u00e9lectriques au fil de l\u2019eau situ\u00e9es en Ontario, au Qu\u00e9bec et dans l\u2019\u00c9tat de New York, huit grandes installations solaires en partenariat avec la Ville d\u2019Ottawa ainsi que deux centrales de conversion de gaz d\u2019enfouissement en \u00e9nergie verte (participations majoritaires).<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>La centrale Hull 2 a \u00e9t\u00e9 acquise d\u2019Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec en 2016 tandis que la centrale de Gatineau (centrale no 1) a \u00e9t\u00e9 achet\u00e9e de Domtar en 2012.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Les installations hydro\u00e9lectriques ont des r\u00e9percussions minimes sur l\u2019environnement, car elles ne polluent pas et de produisent pas de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre.
